| Description: | This auction is for a very well preserved personal letter sent to Art Ceder from the Chciago Bears Hall Of Fame Quarterback Sid Luckman. The letter was sent just a few weeks after the end of World War II during a time that Luckman had volunteered as an ensign in the U.S Merchant Marine. He was stationed stateside and would not practice with the Bears but played in the games. The letter and postmarked envelope (Sept. 14h, 1945) have both been authenticated and slabbed individually by SGC Authentic to be from Sid's hand. The handwritten letter has been signed at the bottom and the envelope has Sid's Bears return address in Chicago. Sid sent this letter during a time when the Bears won 5 League Championships over a period of 6 years. A neat item from a lost time when sports heroes and fans would interact freely through mail correspondence. |
